Acceptance & Matriculation

The final deadline for applications is February 1, 2017, and applications will be assessed on a rolling basis from November 1, 2016 onward. Decisions on admission and financial aid will be announced by February 15, 2017. Assignments to seminars will be uploaded onto Dropbox and then the link will be distributed to the participants through the group hosted on Groupspaces we’ll create for our participants by May 1. Colloquia groups will be posted and updated on the 2017 IWL Groupspaces group shortly afterward.

Admitted applicants who have tuition to pay will have until April 1 to submit a non-refundable $200 deposit, which will be applied to their tuition and will hold their place in the Institute. The remainder of the tuition is due by 1 June 2017. Those students who receive tuition waivers will not be required to pay this deposit, but will be asked to write an email to the IWL to confirm their participation in the Institute. The deposit may conveniently be paid online here. Tuition may be paid online here or by check, payable to “The Institute for World Literature.” Please ensure enough time for checks to arrive by the due date.

Advance Seminar Registration

To enable the IWL to plan its summer schedule, prospective participants must indicate on their application form their preferences for the two-week seminars they would most like to attend. This can be conveniently done by dragging and dropping, in order of preference, the listed seminars for each of the two-week sessions. Participants will be assigned to two seminars (one for each two-week session), and the full course packs will be made available via our Dropbox account in late April. Acceptance of the offer of admission to the Institute will constitute acceptance of this seminar assignment.

The Institute will strive to place participants in at least one of their top-two seminar choices.
