Libraries

The Stelios Ioannou Information Center and Library began to admit its first visitors on 5 December 2018. The futuristic architectural design—one of the most impressive and distinctive in the region—of the University Library is by famous French architect Jean Nouvel. Currently, the UCY library houses approximately 400,000 printed volumes and nearly 6,000 printed journals. It also provides electronic access to around 626,000 digitized books, approximately 30,000 journals as well as to 193 research databases.

The Stelios Ioannou Information Center and Library is located on the UCY main campus and is visible from a distance, due to its large domed ceiling. Apart from comfortable seating within the main area it includes several separate group study rooms which may be reserved (see link here), computer labs and open-space computer access (Mac and PC), workstations for wheelchair users, scanning and photocopying facilities, storage lockers (see here), and a large reading room in its outer ring, which is open 24/7.

Library hours are currently 8.30 a.m-10 p.m. Please also check here.

It is essential for visitors to obtain a library card. This allows access to the library, borrowing privileges, as well as access to photocopying and printing services. The cost of the card is 12 euros. The library recommends that visitors begin their application process two weeks prior to arrival. Information on the application is located here.
