Tuition & Financial Aid
Full tuition for the 2026 IWL session is $1,800 for participants from institutions not affiliated with IWL. Institutional Affiliations provide guaranteed places for two participants. Participants from Institutional Affiliates will receive a reduced rate of $900.
Please note that the tuition fee does not cover travel or living expenses for the month of the program. Participants are responsible for their travel and living expenses during their stay in Berlin.
Financial Aid
One of the main goals of the IWL is to bring together students from various international and socioeconomic backgrounds. For this reason, full and partial tuition scholarships are available for students from soft-currency or developing nations, or who demonstrate particular financial need. Applicants are asked to submit a separate statement with their application containing a detailed description of their financial situation (annual salary, net yearly income, or other circumstances), as well as, in relevant cases, proof of residence in a soft-currency or developing nation. Letters of financial need and additional documents must be included in a single file and uploaded onto the application form within the “Financial Aid” field.
Nota bene! Applicants from this year’s host institutions (Berlin University Alliance institutions and the University of Oxford) will automatically be considered for a limited number of sponsored places, for which tuition fees are waived. Applicants from these institutions should indicate in their financial aid statement whether they still want to be considered for participation in the summer school at the affiliate tuition rate ($900) even if they are not selected for a sponsored place. This will not affect your chance of being considered for sponsorship.
